For Immediate Release – 25 March 2025
MUT ready to welcome parents as 2025 graduation season nears
The annual graduation season has kicked off at various institutions in South Africa. As usual, MUT will see thousands of parents and guardians descending to its iconic Seme Hall to witness the graduation of their nearly 3000 children from the University’s three faculties. The 2025 graduation ceremonies, which will take place in the morning and afternoon, will start on 22 April, and end on 24 April. The morning and afternoon of the first day will see some departments of the Faculty of Management graduating. The remaining departments of the faculty will graduate on the afternoon of the second day, 23 April. The Faculty of Applied and Health Sciences will graduate in the morning of the second day. The Faculty of Engineering will graduate in the morning and the afternoon of the last day. (Please see the attached invitation with more information.)
Also, as part of the graduation ceremonies, the University has issued a very serious request to the students that are graduating to use only contracted services providers. The Acting Registrar, Zolisa Gqamane, has urged the students to “purchase or hire their academic attire only from the House of Graduates which is the only MUT approved service provider. Only graduands with graduation attire purchased or hired from House of Graduates will be permitted to graduate. Graduation attire from other suppliers not approved by MUT will not be permitted during the graduation ceremonies.” The University has negotiated reasonable prices with House of Graduates, and the service provider has offered early bird specials for graduands with reduced prices. The House of Graduates attire will be available when the graduands are collecting their graduation tickets on main campus, and at the University sport grounds during the duration of the graduation ceremonies. The House of Graduates contact details are available online.
Also, for the graduands to note is that only Mshazi Photographers are the approved service providers. Any other individual, or teams, or organisations will not be allowed to provide that same or similar service during the entire graduation period of 2025 at MUT premises.
The graduands and their families are requested to be on time, and all be seated at least 30 minutes before the beginning of each ceremony. The morning sessions start at 9am; the afternoon sessions start at 1.30pm. The graduands are also requested to follow instructions given by both members of the University management and its Protection Services to ensure that all graduation ceremonies run smoothly.
The University management would like to thank the parents and guardians for their support and encourages them to communicate with the relevant members of staff for anything they may need.
