Looking forward to the great day! From left, Sobuhle Nkabinde, Nomvelo Ntuli, and Luyanda Mathenjwa, after collecting their graduation tickets

The number of students who come to collect their graduation tickets is growing, reflecting how seriously they are taking the looming rite of passage called graduation. Nearly 3,000 students from the University’s three faculties will graduate from 22 to 24 April 2025 at its iconic Seme Hall. One of these students will be the Student Representative Council Religious, Art and Culture Officer, Sobuhle Nkabinde. Nkabinde, from Nkandla’s Thalaneni, in northern KwaZulu-Natal, will graduate with an Advanced Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting. This is Nkabinde’s second graduation from the University. He said he found studying “challenging, but through hard work and dedication, I made it,” Nkabinde said.

Two other students who collected their tickets also from north of KwaZulu-Natal with Nkabinde were Nomvelo Ntuli from Eshowe and Luyanda Mathenjwa, from Esikhawini, also in north of KwaZulu-Natal. Ntuli, who said she had “the best year at MUT”, will graduate with an Advanced Diploma in Marketing. Ntuli is the first in her family to graduate. Mathenjwa will be graduating with a Diploma in Human Resources Management. Mathenjwa said studying at MUT was very lovely and worth the experience. “The lecturing system at this Institution was very beneficial to me. I joined this university as a boy and now leave as a man. I am thankful for my lecturers. The knowledge they shared with me will assist me in my everyday life,” Mathenjwa said.
