Stewardship brings success as SASSETA awards MUT ICT Advanced Diploma students R1.6 million

Vice-Chancellor and Principal of MUT, Professor Nokuthula Sibiya shared the good news of SASSETA’s award to MUT at her “Conversations with the VC” session on 26 March 2025. This award is the result of stewardship, one of the tenets of Institutional Advancement (IA) practice: looking after a relationship. Dr Connie Israel, Executive Director: IA, said that with partners and donors, it is a crucial part of sustaining a relationship and thereby strengthening it, for more mutual benefit. In this light, SASSETA has made another discretionary award to MUT, this time it is a sum of R1.6m for 20 Advanced Diploma in ICT students. Dr Israel said that her team worked hard for this, and that Financial Aid will pick up the process next by identifying recipients based on the conditions attached.

ICT Head, Dr Vikash Jugoo expressed his delight as well.  “While NSFAS does not support needy advanced diploma students, MUT wishes to build up this level of study, and hence support is sought for them. Thank you to SASSETA, and students, the ball is now in your court,” said Dr Israel.
